A look inside Adobe’s new drawing hardware

Over on Behance the team behind Mighty & Napoleon, Adobe’s new pressure-sensitive stylus & ruler, have posted an interesting look literally & figuratively inside the project.

Funny that there happens to be a quite from Steve “if you see a stylus, they blew it” Jobs up on the wall.

Some “look inside” – the electronics are pixellated out. The red PCB looks like a TI Launchpad for the MSP430, probably for programming the MCUs in the black boxes.

    The full Jobs quote:

“I hate the way people use slide presentations instead of thinking, People would confront a problem by creating a presentation. I wanted them to engage, to hash things out at the table, rather than show a bunch of slides. People who know what they’re talking about don’t need PowerPoint.”

While the prospect of this endeavor on the part of Adobe coming to fruition is exciting. I have to say that the initial approach to make this an iOS-centric device is disheartening.

The Adobe Creative Cloud leveled the playing field by making the entire toolbox available to everyone for a democratic price.

Unfortunately Apple hasn’t been so progressive when it comes to pricing.

No doubt Apple makes excellent products, but Apple also makes expensive products.

I would hope that Adobe would get ahead of the curb and support Android and Windows mobile operating systems. These devices are much more accessible to the same population who IMO benefited the most from the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription model.
